About
My name is Larissa and I grew up in a very creative environment, coming from a family of 5 siblings, my parents wanted only to raise nice human beings and surrounded us with beautiful objects they made and collected. My sisters and I had our first exhibition at around 10yrs old after the parents began a pottery studio. We were encouraged to create hand-built ceramic sculptures, to sell in their gallery, if we wanted to make pocket money.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts drawing major, a Diploma of Fine Art painting major and a Diploma of Education. I have been an art teacher for several years now, raised my own children and bought my own kiln, so the ceramics cycle continues. The bathing beauties series were in response to a request from my mother to make her some figures for her water feature.
My work sings a song of whimsical story telling, from the figurative bathing beauties and burlesque ladies to the planters and carousel story vases.
I believe we need to care for our environment, our planet and in the words of my parents, be nice human beings.
